NYC in bloom

New York was beginning to bloom when Paul and I got to the city, but my sister assured me that it was only beginning. Wow! What a beginning!

My stay in N.Y.C.

I've been celebrating my 50th birthday in New York city. I love this city. And here are a few reasons.

These are just a few reasons for my love of this amazing city. My stay in N.Y.C. is almost over, butthere will be more memories to come.

Amazing Workshop

On Febuary 24th,25th, and 26th found a group of people anticipating the first day of Jesse Reno's painting workshop.

Jesse does not disappoint, all three days were opportunities to explore, learn, step out of our comfort zones, have great exchanges of ideas. I would recommend that if Jesse is in your town teaching I would sign up asap; his classes fill pretty quickly! enjoy the following photos and thanks for the support.

I have this feeling!

  Loving the New Year so far! I know it really hasn't been that long since the start of it. But I have to tell you I have a good feeling about 2012. Only time will tell.

 

 These are some new pincushions I've been doing. They are not actually that new. I had done them once before at a holiday Bazaar and from that showing (a yearago).  I got a request to produce 10 pincushions(final ten in the photo above).more are on the way. 

 These are some other dolls I've been making. Love the painted faces. Let me know how the new year is treating you so far?

 This sounds like a great show at LACMA. I've always been interested in woman inSurrealism, and I look forward to seeing it with my friends Stacy and Eszter. Two of my favorite people/artist that I love to see and talk to about art,and life,and any other topic that comes up.

Valentines Day  is approaching. And I know some refer to it as

a Hallmark holiday. But Paul and I have always had this tradition of

creating our own Valentines for each other.  So consider this your

tease for my next post. and let me know what special thing or things

you do for those you love on that day or any day for that matter.

 

Happy New Year everyone!

I hope that the Holidays have been wonderful for everyone? I look forward to the new opportunities 2012 will bring us. Paul and I were talking about the New Year; and he mentioned how so many are glad the old year is going away and how excited they are about the New Year. Now I agree 2012 offers many possibilities, but the old year has to be acknowledged for the things we learned in it's time or maybe it's upon reflection in the New Year that we finally understand the lessons of the past year.

Just some stuff I like

        I took some photos of some things in the Pasadena/Los Angeles  area that just struck me. How much do you like this display that I stumbled upon at an antique mart in Pasadena? whoever owns this booth has a great eye.

 

 

Love this doll he has the best face!!!

 

Does anyone know what these are? I suspect that these are inset in a wall or are part of a larger decorative facade. Let me know what you think.

Love this forest of street lights (a permanent installation at LACMA). It's a great piece to interact with. 

 There is an amazing series of sculptures which depict the Chinese Zodiac, they are fantastic. Here a a few. what is your sign? mine is the tiger!

 

 

 

 Paul, Shari (our friend) and I were leaving so I didn't take photos of all the sculptures. I highly recommend taking a trip to LACMA,check out a little art have a little lunch. We chose the food trucks across from the museum, which form a huge line of food choices. Make the museums a destination! and enjoy!
